Our rarest and most unique wines

Listán Red Grain by Grain

It came from a plot located in the central area of the Island of Lanzarote known as "Tomaren". This plot is cultivated with Listán Negro under free standing of pre-phylloxera vineyards, centuries-old vines very adapted to the harsh climate of the island with low rainfall and continuous trade winds.

This wine has been made with minimal interventions in order to extract the maximum potential of the varietal. A manual harvest was carried out in and a careful selection of the grapes. In the cellar a manual destemming was carried out in order not to break the grain. After this work, alcoholic fermentation was carried out together with the skins for 12 days. Shortly before its completion, the grapes were trodden in the traditional way to break the grape grains through the feet. Finally it was pressed and taken to a tank where malolactic fermentation took place.

This production has provided a wine with an intense, personal and distinct aromatic phase with hints of sour cherries, white flowers and light lactic nuances. It presents a medium color layer and a very silky and happy perception in the mouth due to the low extraction during its elaboration. Delicate tannic sensation with ideal acidity.

Malvasía Canari

This sweet aged wine is our interpretation of the famous 17th century Canari that were exported to England. To make it, we assemble three batches of the vintages of 1956, 1970 and 1997. These wines were made at the time by sunning the clusters of Malvasía Volcánica (clusters that once cut were placed on mats for several days) to raise their proportion of sugar through dehydration partial.

The fermentation of these wines was stopped in its day by adding wine alcohol, as its residual sugars reached about 90 g / l. Then the different vintages were kept in a long oxidative aging. The bottling has been done in 50 cl bottles.

Moscatel de Ana

This sweet liqueur wine was made with grapes from our oldest Moscatel vines (some from the 19th century), which arise from holes in the layer of volcanic lava, called "chabocos" or "jameos".

After light raking by sun and subsequent film maceration, the fermentation was stopped with 100g / l of natural sugars. Then it has been subjected to a long aging by the soleras system. At the time of bottling in 50 cl. Bottles, we add a certain proportion of young Muscat.

It is named after Ana Brito, who was born in El Grifo in 1880, from which date our soleras date.

George Glas Sweet Red

Natural sweet wine made in 2015 with Listán Negro grapes previously sunned for ten days. Then he stepped on his feet for two days intermittently. Its fermentation was interrupted with the addition of wine alcohol to maintain 110 g / l of natural sugars. Since then it has rested in barrels in oxidative aging along with a batch (10%) of sweet wine from the 2012 vintage that was devastated by the heat and from which we could only save a few clusters.

George Glas was a Scottish merchant who lived seven years in the Canary Islands in the mid-18th century. He gave an account of the birth of Lanzarote wine in his book on the Canary Islands, published in London in 1764. We keep a copy of its first edition in the library of our Museum.

There are very few sweet reds and Listán, probably, this is the only one. In 20 days we will finish the bottling and we will put them on sale. It usually runs out in a few weeks. We have decided to advance the availability for clients of Club El Grifo
